…A beautiful dark WHAT?
This has always annoyed me in books, when they use “dark” as a noun (The phrase “in the dark” is fine, however). What’s so bad about saying darkness? That’s a noun. Dark is primarily an adjective. If the title had been THE Beautiful Dark, then I might excuse it, because “the dark” is okay. Lose the word Beautiful, and you get “a dark.” A dark what??
Also—and this is only slightly related—if I ever seen the word “crimson” used again when red or dark red or ruby could just as easily be used, I might poke my eyes out.
